Type Poster 2 -Week 6 & 7
Illustrator

Working with Type-

For this assignment, we were given 3 examples of type posters and asked to recreate 1 as identical as possible.  Instructions were not given, but to simply choose whatever typefaces and layouts we felt matched the best.

I chose a type-only poster and started by creating rectangle blocks for each section of type.  I reduced the opacity on them to make it easier to work over the layer.  Instead of the suggested font, I chose Futura to feature on my poster.

Challenge:
Fortunately, I didn’t have difficulty with this project.  If I was to think of 1 thing, it took a few attempts to get the correct character sizing for the alphabet, which was a bit time consuming.

Success:
Learning industry tips is much appreciated - for this assignment, our tutor recommended the use of coloured blocks to set out the layout for the text as a first step.  It helped to see the proportions prior to entering the details.
