Personal skills audit

To be successful in any industry, it's imperative to keep goals in sight and to constantly grow and upskill.  It is especially true in the face paced design world, where trends move quickly and technology is always being updated.

"Setting the right goals for the right reasons can be the difference between success and failure."

As my first step, it's time for me to put a written plan in place, of actions and steps I need to make in order to set up the right trajectory going forward.

Below is a Swot Analysis, flagging my Strengths, Weaknesses, and what I believe are potential opportunities and threats.

Personally, I find looking at the list of challenges quite over-whelming.  The best way to approach it is to take the top 4 or 5 and focus on those... and ask myself, if nothing was to stand in my way, what do I ultimately want?

To take the challenges and flesh them out, it's important to set realistic  and achievable goals.

Consider

S.M.A.R.T. - (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time) goals.

  • What do I envisage, if there were no limitations?

  • Development Plan

  • Log my progress

  • Be relevant

There are several tools I will look at to help me set up goals and track them. In college, we have looked at Mural and Notion, both of which I would like to spend time trying out, and there is also Asana and Weekdone.  Hopefully, through trial and error, I'll find one that suits my style of working and planning.
